Summer Salad

I made this salad last night for dinner, sans the chicken, and using arugula instead of spinach. LET ME TELL YOU: new favorite salad, fa sho'. The goat cheese, pine nuts and super easy homemade dijon vinaigrette? SO tasty. I had seconds...and then thirds right out of the salad bowl. And I'm having it for lunch again today. Probably an early lunch, now that I've started thinking about it.

Life List

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about things I would like to learn how to do/do more often/make a habit out of.

Learn How To:

Sew.

French braid. I really have no idea...

Use my DSLR without it being on automatic.

Use Photoshop. (Elements or Lightroom? Which one should I get--aka, which one is easiest?)

Press flowers. Surely its not that difficult.

Do More Often:

Stand up publicly for something I believe in. I'm shy, y'all. And a master excuse maker :(

Learn about, and get involved in, local politics.

See more musicals. Actually, can I just see Les Mis every month?

Spend more money on less clothes. aka, stop buying so much cheap junk.

Visit relatives in neighboring states.

Be more adventurous with my weekly meal planning. We eat a lot of the same things every week.
My B.

Go in to the salon for free bang trims instead of chopping them myself.

Eat at more family owned ethnic restaurants in our neighborhood.

Plan dates with Miles so we don't end up watching Netflix and eating pizza doing the same thing all the time.

Get out of Nashville for a weekend away with mahboo.

Make Them Habits:

Plan ahead & buy more gifts on Etsy.

Don't go to Target/ The mall/Trader Joe's/Bookstores just to wander around with the nanny bebe on a rainy/hot day. (Ahem, ex-pen-sive)

Farmer's Market produce shopping.

Once In a Lifetime:

Be at a live NPR show taping.

Join:

A gym. Like woah.

The Belcourt--we really have no excuse for not having done so already

Pintrest Home

As our closing date quickly approaches, I'm trying to be more excited about making this little house our home, than stressed about the closing/moving/transitioning time period. I tend to...how shall I say, over think situations. It took me a long time to not be annoyed at myself for over thinking on our wedding day and kind of being in a daze the whole weekend as a result of said over thinking. I'm so excited to have a space to make all our own. I kind of refrained from settling all the way into our apartment because I knew the space was temporary. That being said, I think I speak for both of us when I say that we'll really miss that quirky old apartment and living in Hillsboro Village. It will probably be better for our bellies when we don't live within walking distance of some of our favorite eateries.

I went through some of my pins earlier today and got really excited to soon be able to make them a sort of reality in our home, with our stuff. And think we're going to go to Ikea for a hot second when we head to the Georgia mountains for our anniversary trip! The last time I set foot in an Ikea, I was probably 16 years old, awkward, and could care less about decorating and organizing a home. Miles has no idea what he's in for.

Little details, oversized frames, books and vinyl storage, big mirrors, a place for everything, lots of light & lots of love.

Cold Water

These photos found via Pintrest make me kind of miss the winter that we're not having right now. Granted, I live in a land locked state, and even if I didn't, I wouldn't see any icebergs off shore...But still. There is definitely something calming about cold waters as opposed to the fun filled beaches and lakes of summertime. I feel like these photos capture the calm, the quiet, the peacefulness of empty beaches, open waters, and snowy lakes. I can breathe in the calm and breathe out everything else.
